Biography: Don Scott holds an LL.B. from the University of New Brunswick. Don clerked with the Court of Appeal in New Brunswick. After being called to the bar in New Brunswick, Don went on to pursue an LL.M. from the University of Cambridge. While studying at Cambridge, Don worked as the assistant solicitor to the Bloody Sunday Inquiry in London, England and continued to work in that position after completing his LL.M.

After completing his LL.M. and finishing his work with the Bloody Sunday Inquiry, Don came to Fort McMurray and joined a law firm and within a short period of time, he became a partner. In 2006, Don Scott ventured out on his own and started the law firm of McMurray Law Office in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Don practices in the areas of family law, real estate and business law. McMurray Law Office currently employs several associate lawyers and has 20 staff members offering services in the areas of real estate, family law, civil litigation, corporate law, business law, wills and estates and criminal law.

Don was a Board member of the United Way for six years, and also served as the President for one year. He continues to be a member of the allocations committee for the United Way. Under Don's leadership as President of the United Way in 2007, the annual fund-raising campaign raised a record-breaking $3,927,274.00 - the highest per capita giving in Canada at that time.

Don also volunteers his time as a member of the Legal Aid Board, the Board of Children First, and was on the Ethics Board for the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre for 2 years. He also coached youth soccer. Don is also an avid badminton player and enjoys hiking and fly-fishing.

In October 2010, Don Scott was elected as Councillor for Ward 1 of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.
